I wonder if Michael Bartoszek will be at the groundbreaking today?
Posted by: Rocky | October 06, 2011 at 08:43 AM
Let's play "Where's Mike?"
Posted by: Antonio Andolini | October 06, 2011 at 10:58 AM
Do you have a rock to look under?
Posted by: Rocky | October 06, 2011 at 11:45 AM
Ya right, Bartoszek at the ground breaking after the BS he's currently pulling with Cate Street. More likely to see pigs fly than to see Barty the Clown at today's ground breaking.

I think some of the shareholders would like to know where they could find him. I know that there's some in Ellicottville would love to meet him in a dark alley. Then again, he might have showed up at the groundbreaking, I know that I didn't get an invitation. Dunno why, after all the publicity I gave them?

Apparently you all didn't attend today or you'd realize that the cartoon is completely inaccurate. There was only sharing of congratulations and praise for all involved, including without exception from every single speaker, to the people of Berlin and Coos County.
Too bad (but not surpising) you choose to throw mud at those that gave you thanks.

"Too bad (but not surpising) you choose to throw mud at those that gave you thanks." ...and gave you Bartoszek, don't forget that.
Posted by: toonist | October 06, 2011 at 06:48 PM
And the material impacts of this one you call Bartoszek are? Have a hard time letting go of something that no longer matters do we?
Rather, these people who you mock and deride gave you many who thanked the community, invested many hours and real millions of dollars, and want to bring positive results.
Too bad some are too shallow to realize or understand.

Great day for Berlin!!! Yes Jobs Jobs!!! CHOOOOOOO CHOOOOOOO the train is here Jon!! NO NO!!! Your Mouth made NO difference not a bit NONE!! AT ALL In the outcome of this GREAT PROJECT!!!!! Thats okay your still Rockys hero!! Poor soul has not a clue...
Posted by: wood burner | October 06, 2011 at 09:22 PM
You're right butthead, Barty is for us irrelevant at the moment, but he's not irrelevant to those who got screwed out of their savings, or out of thousands in work done and not paid for. If you think any of this is for the betterment of Berlin, I have a bridge for sale.
Posted by: Rocky | October 06, 2011 at 09:26 PM
So what job are you getting at the biomass plant, wood burner?
Posted by: Antonio Andolini | October 06, 2011 at 11:21 PM
Well, notabutthead, the cartoon was posted about two hours before the service. That's right, the cartoon! Lighten up.
Fact is the characterizations of all but Halle are quite accurate. Ask Dave Bertrand what Governor Lynch said about the project in 2008. Paul Grenier's antics and backroom manipulation of others is known to many in this town. PSNH continues to screw ratepayers throughout the state. Can you say "Northern Pass"? Remember what George Bald told the City Council when asked why his agency keeps striking out on bringing new businesses to Berlin? Go read the minutes. Good luck to John Halle and HLH - Cate Street Capital, this train has a ways to go.

With all the safeguards mandated on this project I now know, because woodburner said so, that they all came about absent any influence or concern. Barty and I were of course drowning our sorrows at the bar while Grenier pasted lipstick on the pig ;) Best of luck to Cate St.; the situation is a whole lot better now because of them and the safe guards in place. Cheers Woodburner, careful not to drink any of that Laidlaw koolaid now.
Posted by: jon | October 07, 2011 at 06:09 AM
Maybe what we now need is a Laidlaw burial so that we can all put that smoke and mirror episode to rest. As a final gesture Barty could once again give our pewee hockey team $10K of the shareholders money.

It does sort of look like they're digging a grave in the BDS photo op.

"It does sort of look like they're digging a grave in the BDS photo op."
i think that's why toonist called it a "service"? ;)
Posted by: jon | October 07, 2011 at 10:42 AM
Yup! I think I'm the one calling it that, no matter.
When I first used the phrase, I was thinking about the future of Berlin being buried. Note the "green" company that we kept hearing would co-locate is now a "heavy industry." The 300 construction jobs now are coming to town next spring. My favorite fluff is they hope "to generate power by late 2013" which would be just in time for the next local elections.
Posted by: Antonio Andolini | October 07, 2011 at 11:25 AM
2013 is OK, we still need to figure out who's paying for the Coos Loop upgrade and then we have to upgrade the loop.......I hope my lights don't go out before Burgess goes online.
Posted by: Rocky | October 07, 2011 at 05:51 PM
PSNH customers will pay for the upgrade. Then your lights will go out when you can't pay the bill.
Posted by: Antonio Andolini | October 07, 2011 at 06:25 PM
It might just be the right time to think about going "off grid".
Posted by: Rocky | October 07, 2011 at 07:34 PM
Yeah, pick up some of those Solyndra solar panels. We paid for them. Build your own backyard biomass boiler; wonder what we could use for turbines? What a great business opportunity. We could start a penny stock company!
Seriously, though, as the economy continues to stagger along, more and more folks will consider how to become independent.

One of the troubling issues are all the "extra" charges that are tacked on our electric bills. Take a close look at your next bill and you'll see that from 25% to 50% of your bill is NOT for the electricity you're using. So even if you cut your usage your bill doesn't shrink proportionally. Unfortunately, it's not cheap or easy to go "off line", let's face it, we're "captive customers".
Posted by: Rocky | October 07, 2011 at 09:06 PM
I know a fellow who went 'off line' and he's almost there but the bad part is the equipment cost more per month than his electric bill was!!! BUT in 20 something years it'll be paid for.
